LT1796 Overvoltage Fault Protected CAN Transceiver

The LT1796 CAN interface IC offers built-in fault tolerance to function in automotive and industrial environments. Discrete protection devices aren't required. Bus interface pins can withstand up voltage faults to 60V with regard to earth with no damage to the unit. Faults may occur while the transceiver is active, closed down or powered off. On-chip ESD protection withstands around 15kV air sparks and 8kV contact style discharges analyzed per IEC-1000-4-2. Loss of ground or power connections doesn't harm the IC.
